Florida State College at Jacksonville Culinary program grad Jamie Davis, Jacksonville Suns Ball Park Food Manager, has some specialties baseball fans might want to try next time they’re out at the game. The weekly blog "Jacksonville Restaurant Review" sat down with Davis to find out what goes into serving up thousands of hot dogs, among other treats, at Suns games. Davis was formerly the Suns Ball Park executive chef.

Florida State College at Jacksonville students Amy Brownfield and David Paly were two of only 109 students named to the 2014 All-Florida Academic Team. The designation recognizes the most outstanding students in the Florida College System based on academic achievement, leadership and service to the community.

A profile on Don Hughes, Florida State College at Jacksonville Nassau Center director since 1994, gives a retrospective of the impact FSCJ has had on Nassau County education, business and economic development while the Nassau Center was under his leadership. Hughes is retiring from FSCJ after 30 years of service.

Florida State College at Jacksonville is working with nine other community colleges to develop a one-year certificate in high-demand technical fields, funded by a $20 million Department of Labor grant. According to FSCJ's Director of Academic Systems Ernie Friend, demand for workers with those skills is high. The curriculum focuses on composites, cyber-technology, electric-vehicle technology, environmental technology and mechatronics.

More than 7,600 students earned Bachelor's degrees, Associate degrees, Technical and Workforce certificates in the 2013-2014 academic year. Many of them shared their pride and excitement with friends and family members at the May 4 Commencement Ceremony.
