The Fire Academy of the South (FAS) provides a wide range of training and educational opportunities to emergency responders in both the public and private sectors. Training levels range from basic skills and certification to advanced education with specialized technical training, including shipboard fire fighting and aircraft rescue fire fighting.
The FAS has state of the art training facilities with modern equipment including a new maritime fire trainer and aircraft rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) simulator. FAS instructors have the knowledge, experience and industry credentials to provide quality training and certification. The FAS also possesses the ability to develop customized curriculum to meet the dynamic needs of the fire service and specific response parameters.
This program prepares students for certification and initial employment as fire fighters in the state of Florida.

Learn MoreThis scholarship provides financial assistance to current or future students enrolled in programs through the FSCJ Fire Academy of the South. Eligible students must have successfully completed the Emergency Medical Technician course. Awards may be given up to $1,000 per student per school year.
This scholarship provides financial assistance to current or future students enrolled in programs in the Firefighter I/II Workforce Certificate, Associate in Science in Fire Science Technology, Paramedic Career/Technical Certificate or Emergency Medical Technician Technical Certificate program. The endowed fund is intended to provide one full-time or two part-time scholarships each year.
