Florida State College at Jacksonville is among the largest providers of education to military service members in the nation, and also serves more veterans than almost any other college or university. Dr. Ferdinand “Fred” Berley and Camille Pascale Berley were honored guests at a Veterans Day presentation at North Campus. Dr. Berley was a Navy physician stationed in the Philippines when the Japanese captured him in 1942.

Gerald Halstead is 70 years old, and taking another shot at a college education. He has been at Florida State College for 2 years and is completing his course work to earn his Business Administration degree.

Free and open to the public, columnist and author Pitts will offer "Owning What You Know," in a lecture followed by a book signing. December 17th, 2007 was a date that changed Bryan Wagner’s life. “We got the word that we were going to be protective service for a high ranking Army official, take her to another base, and bring her back for a meeting. On the way back, my truck was blown up by a large improvised explosive device,” says Wagner.

The Military, Public Safety and Security Division of Florida State College at Jacksonville provides training to the people who keep our community and our country safe. The division is relatively new—but there's more than a thousand combined years of military, police, fire and other public safety experience on the MPSS team.

Florida State College at Jacksonville is partnering with Corporate Care Works and providing students with confidential consultations through the Student Assistance Program. The program is available day or night. There is a 24-hour helpline staffed with licensed counselors, a website packed with educational resources, and scheduled appointments for face-to-face support. All of these services are available to any Florida State College student for free.
