There have been lots of news stories lately questioning how students (and their parents) are going to be able to afford a college education. College Goal Sunday is an effort to help them do something about it, making the most of their time and money by providing free help filling out the FAFSA (or Free Application for Federal Student Aid), in both Duval and Nassau Counties. Additionally, RealSense Prosperity Campaign will be on-site helping people with the 2011 income tax forms. Getting these forms completed correctly and in a timely manner is critical to making the most of financial aid opportunties. Learn the details by checking out this previous news release Hit College Goal Sunday at Florida State College for help with financial aid, scholarships and taxes! Yeah, it's on a Sunday and you're short-staffed but if you want access to people who are feeling the pinch and taking steps to do what they can about it, this is a good place to be.
On Valentine's Day, Florida State College's North Campus programs are going to show a little love to some veterans by offering their annual Wounded Warrior Day. Did you know veterans have no government-provided access to dental care? North Campus does. About 20 Wounded Warrior TRACK program students will receive full dental exams, cleaning and x-rays free of charge courtesy of the College's Dental Hygiene Program. They'll also receive lunch, haircuts and massages all provided by students in the corresponding programs. These program students feel privileged to be able to give back to our wounded veterans. The WWP students are hugely deserving. Get the details from the release Wounded Warrior Day at Florida State College North Campus February 14.
