  5. FSCJ Dance Repertory Company danceWORKS

danceWORKS is FSCJ's Dance Repertory Company. Membership is by audition only. Company members have several performance opportunities, work extensively with guest artists, participate in the American College Dance Festival, and have traveled to San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles, for training.

The company requires dancers to enroll in Ballet, Modern, and Dance Repertory. These classes meet on Monday and Wednesday. The company provides opportunities for those students seeking to sharpen their technical ability and artistry to prepare for entry into a four-year program or a career in dance. The company also offers opportunities for those students who are talented, love to dance, yet wish to pursue other careers.

The dance department at Florida State College at Jacksonville will be auditioning for admittance into the program electronically on a rolling basis. All potential applicants that are not currently enrolled at FSCJ must also apply to the College admissions.

SHAPE/SHIFT

Jacksonville Dance Theatre (JDT) and the Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) Dance Department are excited to announce the return of SHAPE/SHIFT, a week-long summer intensive for professional and pre-professional dancers ages 16 and up. The program will take place July 27–31, 2026, at FSCJ’s South Campus.

Participants will train in a uniquely integrated environment where collegiate dancers, emerging artists, and working professionals learn side-by-side. This collaboration strengthens the connection between FSCJ’s academic dance program and Jacksonville’s professional dance community, giving participants a rare opportunity to experience how concert dance is created, rehearsed, and performed across both educational and professional settings.

Registration is $550 for the full week, with payment due by June 15 to secure a spot. Daily sessions run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., culminating in a site-specific performance on Friday, July 31, at the Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts.
