FSCJ to Participate in 2019 Summer Food Service Program for GRADS ACT/SAT Students

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will participate in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) to provide meals, free of charge, to eligible children who are participating in the Gaining Resources and Developing Skills (GRADS) SAT/ACT prep program.

GRADS is a program through FSCJ’s College Reach-Out Program (CROP) that prepares high school for SAT/ACT success. Additionally, students benefit from life skills courses, financial literacy education, career exploration, community service activities, educational tours and cultural events.

To be eligible for SFSP, students must meet the income guidelines for reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program. (Income eligibility guidelines for the National School Lunch Program can be found at fns.usda.gov/cacfp/income-eligibility-guidelines.) Students from households that receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, formerly known as food stamps, benefit from the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) are automatically eligible to receive SFSP meals as well.

Acceptance and participation requirements for SFSP and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.

More Information: CROP will host an orientation session for students and their guardians to learn more about GRADS on Saturday, June 8, 2019, from 9:30 – 11 a.m. at FSCJ’s Kent Campus, Room D120 located at 3939 Roosevelt Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. The program will continue Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., June 10-July 11, 2019. Transportation, supplies and meals will be provided for all sessions/activities. Spaces are limited and some restrictions apply.
