JaxbyJax 2016, the third annual JaxbyJax Literary Arts Festival, founded and organized by FSCJ professors Tim Gilmore and Jo Carlisle, brought about 600 people out to hear 25 featured local writers in 12 intimate venues around Park and King Streets in Riverside. JaxbyJax began at 2 p.m. at Il Desco Italian Restaurant with nine student writers chosen by FSCJ English Professor Matthew Lany for the first JaxbyJax Student Showcase. Those writers were Madeline Windsor, Joshua Tenpenny, Marvin Simmons Jr., Bella Hughes, Josh Tremble, Rebecca Hersh, Alexis Couture, Mike Hesson, and Micah Fisher.

From 3 to 6 p.m., 25 writers gave 15 minute readings and performances at neighborhood venues all within a few steps of each other. Those venues were Beer:30, Cool Moose Cafe, Flaire Celebrations, Il Desco, Jacksonville Magazine, Nourish Juice Cafe, Riverside Liquors, Silver Cow Watering Hole, Sunday Tattoo Gallery, The Mazer, True-Blue: A Hair Studio, and Whiteway Conference Room.

JaxbyJax 2016 writers were Jim Alabiso, Tricia Booker, RaeJeana Brooks, Fred Dale, Frances Driscoll, Bill Ectric, Katherine Espano, Joe Flowers, Sohrab Fracis, Liz Gibson, Tim Gilmore, Nan Kavanaugh, Grant Kittrell, Matt Lany, Johnny Masiulewicz, Emily K. Michael, Marcus Pactor, Ebony Payne-English, Heather Peters, Andres Rojas, Caleb Sarvis, Sean T. Smith, Mark Stewart, Marisella Veiga, and Jeff Whipple.

In between venues, information and activity stations were occupied by the Jacksonville Public Library's Makerspace and Zine Collection, Jennifer Wolfe's Women Writing for Change, Perversion Magazine, Bridge Eight Magazine, literary photographer Junah Hanuj, and Douglas Anderson School of the Arts' Elan Magazine. FSCJ professors Sarah Stuart and Jennifer Chase organized the JaxbyJax stations.

JaxbyJax culminated with an after party and book market from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at CoRK Arts District, "Corner of Rosselle and King" Streets.
