FSCJ will be closed for spring break from Monday, March 17 – Sunday, March 23, 2025. We look forward to serving you when we return on March 24.
The Career Employees Council is the advisory body that represents the needs and promotes the welfare of career employees throughout the College. Career employees work side by side with our faculty and administration to support the needs of our students. Each month, we will spotlight the work of a career employee to highlight how they play an important role throughout the College.
October’s career employee feature is Glenda McBurnie, military receivable specialist.
Glenda began working for FSCJ approximately 14 years ago as a student worker. She currently works in the Accounts Receivable department as the military receivable specialist. Glenda says the best part of being a military receivable specialist is having the opportunity to communicate with individuals from all branches of the military.
Glenda was just selected as a Career Employees Council Excellence Award winner. As the Excellence Award winner, Glenda has her sights set on attending one of two conferences: The Florida Association of Bursars and Student Accounting Administrators (FABSAA) conference or the VA annual Florida Association of Veterans Education Specialists (FAVES) conference. Attendance at either conference will allow Glenda the opportunity to share, network and discuss current topics, concerns and challenges that affect professionals in her field. This not only refines Glenda’s skill set, but it better equips FSCJ as Glenda will be better suited to identify and communicate opportunities that impact institutions of higher learning nation-wide when related to accounts receivable, cashiering, collections, financial aid distribution and student accounting.
When Glenda is not fulfilling her duties at FSCJ she enjoys spending time with her daughter, reading, going to the movies and when time permits, traveling.
