Accredited since 2010, the occupational therapy assistant (OTA) program at FSCJ has established an outstanding history of successful students and graduates.

According to the most current data from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, the FSCJ occupational therapy assistant program has demonstrated a 100 percent pass rate for the graduating classes of 2013, 2014 and 2015. 

According to program director Dr. Kimberly Fahlgren, the success on the certification exam is a direct result of the hard work and effort of the students; the student’s active engagement in service learning and volunteer opportunities throughout the program; the expertise and quality of faculty who have the real-world experience to create an engaging and dynamic learning environment; and the support of administration.

FSCJ’s OTA students can be found giving back to the community at many events including Club Arc, Special Olympics and Surfers for Autism. Service learning and volunteer opportunities enable the students to build on the knowledge and skills they are learning in the academic environment as well as provide network connections for future employment opportunities.
