FSCJ offers this hands-on Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Engineering Technology (Advanced Manufacturing) for students interested in pursuing careers involving installation, repair and maintenance of industrial and manufacturing environments. It is designed to respond to the needs of industrial and regional businesses and equips our students with manufacturing-related technical skills for the industry. As of today, 98 FSCJ graduates have secured manufacturing jobs upon completing the program. 

Students enrolled in the program learn about robotics, hydraulics, welding, advanced machining and more. For the 2016-17 academic year, 146 students have applied to study in our A.S. in Engineering Technology program. 

In addition to earning an A.S. degree, students are able to earn five technical certificates including:  

• CNC Machinist/Fabricator 
• Engineering Technology Support Specialist 
• Pneumatics, Hydraulics and Motors for Manufacturing 
• Mechatronics 

Through industry partnerships with companies such as Johnson & Johnson Vision (Vistakon), Gerdau Ameristeel and Anheuser-Busch Companies LLC, students are able to gain internship experience to supplement their studies. Currently, FSCJ is working with Fleet Readiness Center Southeast to build a technical certificate that incorporates 30 credit hours of classes needed for our students to obtain jobs with its company. 

The engineering technology program is not only working to ensure graduates are prepared to enter the workforce, but also offers high school students the chance to get a head start on their degree. This Fall Term, the program is working with Englewood High School to begin dual enrollment opportunities for interested students. The program will also offer a summer camp for other high schools in our service area to introduce students to the fast-growing engineering industry.
