Jun 9, 2022, 12:52 PM

Join us on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, to celebrate #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. FSCJ students, faculty, staff and alumni are encouraged to come together to help make a difference right here in our community.

On this day of giving, students, employees and alumni will volunteer their time across Jacksonville. Volunteer locations include: Beaches Habitat for Humanity, Celestial Farms, Farm Share, Feeding Northeast Florida, Ronald McDonald House and Tiger Academy.

Volunteer time slots are still available! Learn more and sign up here. Supervisor pre-approval is required for employee volunteers. Volunteer commitments are limited to two hours – 8-10 a.m. or 10 a.m.-noon. Beaches Habitat for Humanity is limited to the 8-10 a.m. time slot only. Volunteers will receive a free #GivingTuesday t-shirt when they check in at their site.

No time to volunteer? You can still show your support for #GivingTuesday in several ways.

Donate nonperishable food items to the FSCJ H.O.P.E. Food Pantry to help students in need. Items of high need include drinks (water, sports drinks, powder mixes, etc.), canned/packaged fruit, peanut butter and breakfast items. Collection bins will be available from November 19-30. Bins can be found at the following locations:

  • Administrative Offices on the first floor in front of the elevators
  • Deerwood Center, G-1701
  • Downtown Campus, C-101
  • Kent Campus, G-149
  • North Campus, E-235
  • South Campus, U-202
  • Urban Resource Center on the first floor in front of the elevators

We will wrap up our #GivingTuesday efforts on Thursday, November 29 through the Fasting for Food Marathon at FSCJ’s South Campus. Help the FSCJ H.O.P.E. Food Pantry meet its goal of collecting 1,000 pounds of food to support our students in need.* From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., FSCJ faculty and staff will be fasting until the Food Pantry meets its 1,000-pound goal. Nonperishable food donations can be brought to South Campus on November 29 or dropped into the donation bins across our campuses from November 19-30. For questions, email foodpantry@fscj.edu.

You can also make a financial contribution to the FSCJ H.O.P.E. Food Pantry. Your generosity will provide the funds necessary to help the pantry stock its shelves. All monetary donations will be matched by an anonymous donor. Donate here (scroll to the bottom of the page).

* All food donations collected from November 19-30 will count toward the Food Pantry’s 1,000-pound goal.

Bank of America/Merrill Lynch Donation Helps Kick-Off the Food Drive

Employees from Bank of America/Merrill Lynch held their own drive during the month of September. The employees pulled together to collect nearly 150 pounds of food and personal items to support our students' needs. Their donation will provide almost 120 meals to students who need it most.

Let's keep the momentum going!
