Professor and Histotechnology Program Director Dr. Jerry Santiago was recently named the Histotechnologist of the Year by the National Society for Histotechnology (NSH). This award is given annually to an individual who best exemplifies the qualities of dedication, service and involvement. He will be recognized at the annual NSH Award Banquet.

The NSH is a professional organization for individuals actively engaged in the histology field. Since its founding over 40 years ago, NSH's member community has grown to include over 3,000 histology professionals from around the world.

Last year, Dr. Santiago received the Peggy Wenk Histology Program Scholarship from the NSH. The $5,000 award was provided for materials, meetings and speaker opportunities to support the histology program.
