Interested in 911 dispatcher training? It can be exciting working behind the scenes as a 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST). PSTs are in high demand across the state of Florida. Students completing the nine-week 911 dispatcher course will be eligible for employment at the hundreds of Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) throughout the state.
1. Hybrid course for individuals who are not yet employed by a public safety organization:
January 23, 2023, to April 3, 2023
Students will be required to be at the CJC on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7 p.m.
Tuition for this course is $950 per person.
The nine-week hybrid course will allow students to not only prepare for the state exam but also to have weekly live simulation with 911 phone, radio and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. Both the online 911 dispatcher training and simulation are conducted by instructors with over 25 years of experience as PSTs in police, fire and rescue.
Upon completion, the student will receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to take the Department of Health state exam to become a state certified 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator.
2. Blended (online and practical) nine-week course designed for public safety telecommunicators that are currently employed by public safety organizations: Participants will engage in online class work and be required to have supervisors sign off on their ability to demonstrate necessary skills.
Tuition for this course is $550 per person.
