Florida Residency

All students who apply to FSCJ must complete a Residency Declaration form as part of the application process. This form is available in the student's myFSCJ portal, found at my.fscj.edu. Select the "Tasks" tile, To-Do's, Residency Declaration.

A Florida resident for tuition purposes is a person who has, or a dependent person whose parent or legal guardian has, established and maintained legal residency in Florida for at least twelve (12) consecutive months preceding the first day of classes of the term for which Florida residency is sought.

A student who classifies as a Florida Resident will pay a lower tuition rate than the out-of-state rate.

Step 1: Determine Dependency Status:

All degree or certificate-seeking applicants to FSCJ must complete a Residency Declaration form. Completing the residency declaration helps FSCJ determine the student’s Florida residency status, which determines the tuition rate charged for the courses. A student who classifies as a Florida Resident will pay a lower tuition rate than the out-of-state rate.

Follow the steps below to access the residency declaration:

  • Log into MyFSCJ
  • Select the Tasks tile under the Student Center
  • Select the Residency Declaration task
  • Select the Residency Declaration Form link to begin the residency process

The declaration form does not need to be completed in one sitting. You can begin the process and save it for later if you need to collect the required information to complete and submit the form. If you are determined to be a dependent student, you must supply the information of your parent/guardian to determine your residency status.

    Step 2: Submit appropriate documentation:

    Submit required information/documentation:

You will submit appropriate documentation in the Residency Declaration form within your MyFSCJ account
