The Food and Beverage Management Technical Certificate (T.C.) program is designed to provide career-oriented students with basic catering and management principles and training for supervisory/management positions in the food service industry and hospitality industry. The program provides students with a foundation for building a rewarding career in the second largest and fastest growing industry in Florida. Examples of hospitality management jobs after completing the food and beverages management certificate program include food service manager, catering manager and restaurant manager.

Educational coursework outside of culinary classes includes an emphasis on communication, management, human relations and leadership skills.

The coursework in this program is designed in partnership with the area’s leading caterers, restaurants and hotels. Students in the Food and Beverage Management (Catering) program must complete 300 hours at a food and beverage internship. Students are regularly recruited for culinary internships that earn college credits along with profitable work experience.

Must also purchase a knife set (approximately $215), approved chef's uniform (approximately $80), black non-skid shoes and textbooks. Students enrolled in dining room courses will be required to purchase dining room uniforms. Lab fee (approximately $150)

This certificate articulates directly into the A.S. in Culinary Management degree. Students may pursue this certificate to develop or upgrade their skills, or pursue the A.S. degree and earn the certificate while completing the requirements for the degree. Career Opportunities

Food service managers are responsible for the daily operation of restaurants and other establishments that prepare and serve food and beverages. They direct staff to ensure that customers are satisfied with their dining experience, and they manage the business to ensure that it is profitable (Bureau of Labor Statistics).
