FSCJ Receives Bank of America Charitable Foundation Grant for Downtown Culinary Program Expansion

Nov 1, 2022, 10:57 AM
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) was awarded a $10,000 Workforce Development and Education Grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to support the culinary program expansion. The funds were used to purchase baking equipment, providing students with a more enhanced, comprehensive learning experience.

As the Jacksonville area reinforces its position as a tourism destination, the culinary arts and food service employment demands increase. To address workforce capacity while strengthening the career pipeline for high school students, the culinary program has expanded into a fully renovated space on FSCJ’s Downtown Campus. The expansion will increase relationship cultivation with regional high schools and service industry employers to provide career exploration and hands on educational opportunities.

Through the grant, Bank of America continues their investment in helping connect the unemployed, underemployed, veterans, youth and those with disabilities to employment and education opportunities.

“We are grateful to the Bank of America Charitable Foundation for partnering with us in our efforts to support the community through offering high quality, relevant education and career preparation,” said Executive Chair for the School of Business, Professional Studies, and Public Safety Dr. Cedrick Gibson. “Their generosity directly impacts our students’ learning, increases our educators’ capacities and elevates the program for the betterment of our community.”
