WHAT: Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will host the May Business Speaker Series event, “Disaster and Emergency Preparedness: Storm Planning,” presented by First Florida Credit Union. The event will feature a panel discussion on how companies and residents can proactively prepare for storms and the ways technology, communication and other industries are enhancing disaster preparation.

The discussion will be moderated by FSCJ Instructional Program Manager Tameiko Allen Grant, J.D. Panelists include Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Emergency Preparedness Unit Assistant Chief Travis Cox, Nassau County Emergency Management Director Greg Foster, American Red Cross Regional Chief Development Officer Christian Smith and City of Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, Emergency Preparedness Division, Deputy Division Chief Todd A. Smith.

Seating is limited. Online registration is required. The first 50 attendees will receive a Red Cross personal safety emergency pack. Breakfast will be provided to all attendees.

The Business Speaker Series was made possible by a $250,000 commitment from First Florida Credit Union to support initiatives that will help local students and community members become future business leaders. The funding helped launch the series and will bolster the College’s Financial Skills Academy over the span of five years.
