The Career Employees' Council (CEC) is the representative voice for the Career employees of FSCJ, with the goal to be committed to the continuous development of a collaborative work environment whereby the value and respect of Career employees are elevated through increased recognition, involvement and opportunities to achieve a higher degree of excellence. In this spirit, we put a "spotlight" on one of our members each month.

Ashley Butler

August’s Career Employees' Council Spotlight recognizes Academic and Career Advisor Ashley Butler for her exceptional, admirable work and commitment to her department and FSCJ.

With nearly a decade of dedicated service to the College, Ashley is proud to work in her role, which involves guiding students through their educational journeys, helping them set and achieve goals, overcome challenges and celebrate their ultimate success—graduation day. Witnessing the transformative impact education has on students’ lives is the most rewarding part of her job.

“It’s an honor to play a part in their achievements and contribute to their growth,” she said.

As a dedicated advocate for collaboration and professional development, Ashley’s passions align closely with the objectives of the CEC. Her commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment enhances both her colleagues' and students' experiences at FSCJ.

Ms. Butler’s educational background includes a bachelor’s in Psychology, a master’s in Administration and she is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education. This academic journey not only fuels her personal growth but also empowers her to better support our students and the institution.

In addition to Ashley’s advising role, she is actively involved in FSCJ's Leadership Succession Program. This year-long initiative equips employees with the skills and knowledge to step into critical roles within the College, ensuring a strong foundation for our institution's future.

Beyond FSCJ, Ms. Butler is a proud to serve as a mentor with the Take Stock in Children program, where she helps guide and inspire the next generation. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, watching movies and spending quality moments with her family.

Being part of the FSCJ family has been a deeply fulfilling experience for Ashley, and she looks forward to continuing to make a positive impact on both students and colleagues.
