FSCJ Online and the Center for eLearning Wins International Award

FSCJ Online and the Center for eLearning proudly announce Family Dynamics in Funeral Service, an interactive branching scenario for FSE 2061: Funeral Services Counseling and Ethics, won H5P’s Best Content of 2025 award for Impactful Gamification. This international competition recognized outstanding educational content, and our project stood out among finalists from Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the U.S.

Instructional Designer Julie Wolfe and Learning Experience Architect Andrew Gustafson designed and developed this interactive learning experience in collaboration with faculty Subject-Matter Expert Mary Rutan. The team designed the scenario to support student engagement, learner choice and meaningful discussion. Special thanks to the Dean of Health Sciences Dr. Monica Franklin and Program Director Howard Beckham for their valuable support, thoughtful feedback and contributions.

As Learning Experience Architect for FSCJ’s Center for eLearning, Andrew leads the department on learning experience strategy through consultation, while maintaining the system and technology to create engaging, active and accessible learning experiences. He serves as the department’s technology and accessibility lead, collaborating with IT’s Educational Technology department to maintain global styles for Canvas.

He holds a Master’s in Learning Design and Technology from the University of Colorado Denver and is a Certified Professional in Web Accessibility from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals, one of roughly 700 in the world and the only one working for a Florida higher education institution.
