March 2025 Recruitment Update

Mar 12, 2025, 08:57 AM

The efforts and successes of the Student Recruitment Office are made possible through vital community partnerships. Recently, we had the privilege of hosting our annual meeting for principals and counselors from Duval and Nassau counties, a gathering that truly exemplifies the spirit of collaboration.

On February 28, nearly 60 committed educators from public, charter and private schools across our service district came together at Kent Campus for an inspiring day of networking, sharing and learning. This year, we introduced a more tailored approach by splitting principals and counselors into two tracks to maximize engagement. Counselors participated in enlightening workshops led by Student Support Services, Business and Financial Services programs, and Financial Aid/Scholarships staff. The principals' session consisted of presentations by Education and Human Services, Institutional Research, and Student Affairs and Enrollment Management leadership. After the separate sessions, both groups enjoyed guided tours of Kent Campus. The day wrapped for all attendees with an alumni panel discussion hosted by Dr. Jametoria Burton of the Center for Civic Engagement.

We don’t always hear what prospective students say about their interactions with the staff, but when we do, it’s a window into how they feel about the College. Here are excerpts from notes written to Student Recruiter Faith Manuel-McKenney by Englewood High School students after a Downtown Campus tour.

“I really like to talk to y’all and I hope we meet again.”

“Thank you for allowing us to tour your campus. I really enjoyed it and thought it was very entertaining.”

“I really appreciated the time and effort … Thank you for showing us so we can explore.”
