The Career Employees' Council (CEC) is the representative voice for the Career employees of FSCJ, with the goal to be committed to the continuous development of a collaborative work environment whereby the value and respect of Career employees are elevated through increased recognition, involvement and opportunities to achieve a higher degree of excellence. In this spirit, we put a "spotlight" on one of our members each month.
March’s Career Employees' Council Spotlight recognizes Accountant IV Kaelin Guerrero for her commendable effort and enthusiasm to FSCJ and the CEC. Mrs. Guerrero has been employed at FSCJ for three years.
She plays a vital role at FSCJ by maintaining the finance system security, verifying sensitive information and purchases, tracking daily banking transactions, providing employee security access, auditing details and confirming pay cycle information for Accounts Payable and Payroll.
Kaelin enjoys her role at FSCJ stating, “I take great satisfaction in researching and solving problems that enable our employees to complete their finance-related tasks with greater ease. I deeply value our work-life balance, and enjoy working with collogues who feel more like friends.”
She actively supports the College's objectives by serving as a positive representative of FSCJ and its career employees on various councils and committees. She also contributes to the improvement of College policies by effectively communicating recommendations for enhancement.
She is a proud graduate of FSCJ having earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management and an Associate in Arts with High Honors. She is enrolled at UNF studying for a Master of Business Administration with a Finance concentration.
Kaelin has been a CEC representative since March of 2024. She has recently taken over as the Chairperson of the Fundraising Committee in January. She enjoys volunteering with her fellow CEC members at the annual Commencement rose sale and encourages any CEC members to reach out to her if they would like to help! She also serves on the Recognition Committee in order to award CEC members with Book Awards and the Employee of the Year award. Many will say she is excellent at selling roses and making mundane tasks enjoyable.
She also uses her business acumen in the Florida community by volunteering yearly at the Suwannee Bicycle Association’s “IDIDARIDE,” a 50-mile bicycle challenge ride through woodland trails in White Springs, Florida. This event, which her father-in-law has led for 10 years, has been a tradition in her family as they prepare food and events for the nearly 350 annual riders! Kaelin also works with the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Florida to provide her donor milk for babies in need.
When not at work, she loves spending time with her husband and their new baby girl, Everly, born in August 2024. The Guerreros adore watching sunsets and having meals with their family around Jacksonville.
Our spotlight seeks to showcase a CEC representative from each campus/center at least once a year. Nominations for the spotlight may be directed to the CEC Publicity Committee Chair Vanessa Gordon at CEC@fscj.edu.
