Get to Know Your Fellow CEC Colleagues - Tamera Meyer

The Career Employees' Council (CEC) is the representative voice for the Career employees of FSCJ, with the goal to be committed to the continuous development of a collaborative work environment whereby the value and respect of Career employees are elevated through increased recognition, involvement and opportunities to achieve a higher degree of excellence. In this spirit, we put a "spotlight" on one of our members each month.

August's CEC Spotlight illuminates Administrative Assistant II Tamera “Tammy” Meyer. Tammy has been with FSCJ for 19 years. As an Administrative Assistant II at Cecil Aviation Center, she manages all E&I Department purchasing transactions, which encompasses 21 budgets and 11 grants. And like all of us, other duties as assigned.

What she enjoys most about her role in the educational community is how she can support some wonderful coworkers who also provide her a great deal of support. She finds joy working with internal and external customers as well, some of them for many years. Tammy earns a great deal of satisfaction from the high level of variety and challenges. She says, “I’m never bored.” When asked about working at the Cecil Airport, Tammy says , “I love the activity out here. Being a military wife and brat I’ve always lived on an airport; it feels like home.”

Tammy is very knowledgeable as she has been a CEC representative since June of 2010, and took on the treasurer’s role in 2012. She had an hiatus from 2016-17, then was elected treasurer again in 2017. She has been involved in many CEC objectives from recruiting representatives, promoting welfare, responding to concerns, assisting with CEC policies and procedures, but as treasurer, she says her favorite is working on the Fundraising Committee, which aims to provide funds for textbooks for CEC employees. She enjoys the camaraderie of working with the fundraising team, and the energy and positivity keeps her wanting to do more.

Tammy is a proud FSCJ graduate having earned an A.A. and bachelor's. She continues servicing FSCJ outside her role by serving on several hiring committees, along with various other committees she assists in a supportive capacity.

She volunteers outside FSCJ as a Girl Scout leader and/or cookie mom off and on since 1991. When she is not at FSCJ, she enjoys relaxing. She started diamond painting, and also reads, completes cross-stitch and works in her yard.
