The Administrative & Professional Collaborative (APC) is the representative voice for the Administrative & Professional employees of FSCJ.

In an effort to build cohesiveness, awareness and collegiality, each month we put a “spotlight” on one of our members. January's Administrative & Professional Collaborative (APC) spotlight shines on Juliene Lancto. As the Associate Director of Academic Advising Services at North Campus, Juliene leads a team of academic advisors in supporting the College’s mission, vision and core values. Her passion is to help students reach their academic goals through career and academic planning and connection to available resources.

Juliene has 16 years of experience in Student Services at FSCJ and has served at multiple campuses. Prior to working at FSCJ, she was a first-grade teacher. The shift to higher education outside the classroom was a major change, but it has been a delightful one. “I transferred my love of teaching from the classroom to the office where I can guide students in pursuit of their goals and dreams.”

Juliene holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Trinity Baptist College and a Master of Education from Liberty University.

She also serves as a board member of The Brady Kinder Foundation, a foundation started by her family after the death of her four-year-old grandson, Brady. The purpose of the foundation is to provide assistance for children and families in need in Jacksonville and around the world. “Brady loved people, especially other children, and he brought so much joy to our family. The foundation has been a way for us to share that joy and give to our community.” Among other projects, the foundation has provided scholarships for summer day care and clothing and toys for children living in shelters. Each year they participate in building a home for a family in Costa Rica.

In her spare time, Juliene treasures spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, hiking and biking, and she enjoys watching British TV shows! She also enjoys trips to the beach, but the mountains are her favorite vacation destination.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to come to work each day and serve students. My children participated in the dual enrollment program here at FSCJ, and it was such a positive experience for them. I want that to be the testimony of every student who walks through our doors.”

Our spotlight shines on each campus/center at least once a year. Nominations for the spotlight may be directed to your campus representative or any officer. Learn more about APC on our website, http://blogs.fscj.edu/apcollaborative.
