Get to Know Your Fellow CEC Colleagues - Stephanie Castro

Aug 9, 2023, 10:55 AM

The Career Employees' Council (CEC) is the representative voice for the Career employees of FSCJ, with the goal to be committed to the continuous development of a collaborative work environment whereby the value and respect of Career employees are elevated through increased recognition, involvement and opportunities to achieve a higher degree of excellence. In this spirit, we put a "spotlight" on one of our members each month.

August’s Career Employees' Council (CEC) Spotlight illuminates Student Success Advisor II Stephanie Castro. Stephanie began working for FSCJ in January 2017. As a Student Success Advisor in Student Life and Leadership, she actively coordinates student events, advises the Student Government Association, other clubs and organizations, and History & Heritage themed events. What she enjoys the most about her job is watching students grow and develop their leadership skills. Another aspect Ms. Castro enjoys is collaborating with the staff and faculty of South Campus.

Stephanie is highlighted this month due to her commitment to recognizing other members of the CEC as chair of the CEC Recognition Committee. She aims to advocate for FSCJ's career employees and aid them in becoming aware of the resources available to them. In other words, she intends to bring awareness of programs and opportunities available to FSCJ employees.

Ms. Castro holds a Business Administration and Marketing bachelor's from Jacksonville University. She has recently earned her Master's in Leadership and Learning from Jacksonville University. She is open to helping FSCJ when working on various councils and committees.

When she is not at FSCJ, Stephanie Castro is engaged in her community by volunteering with the Jacksonville Alumnae Panhellenic Association and the Junior League of Jacksonville. She enjoys visiting the mountains in North Carolina, reading and watching movies.

Our spotlight seeks to showcase a CEC representative from each campus/center at least once a year. Nominations for the spotlight may be directed to the CEC Publicity Committee Chair Vanessa Gordon at CEC@fscj.edu. Learn more about CEC on our SharePoint website, https://fscj.sharepoint.com/teams/CareerEmployeeCouncil.
