Get to Know Your Fellow A&P Colleagues - Taylor Mejia

May 17, 2023, 13:37 PM

The Administrative & Professional Collaborative (APC) is the representative voice for the Administrative & Professional employees of FSCJ.

In an effort to build cohesiveness, awareness and collegiality, each month we put a “spotlight” on one of our members. May's Administrative & Professional Collaborative (APC) spotlight shines on Taylor Mejia.

Taylor Mejia joined FSCJ as the new Director of Government and Community Relations in January of 2023. She is responsible for ensuring effective relationships are created and maintained with local, state and federal officials, government agencies, businesses, and community-based organizations. It is her goal to establish partnerships that will benefit both the College and community that FSCJ serves. She is FSCJ’s legislative liaison and provides guidance on policy impacting the College. Taylor looks forward to engaging with more of her colleagues and the FSCJ community.

With nearly a decade of experience working in government relations, she previously worked at The Southern Group where she lobbied at the local and state level for both public and private clients in the areas of education, economic development, community redevelopment, land use and zoning. Prior to that role, Taylor was the Director of Strategic Partnerships at Gilmore Hagan Partners. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of North Florida.

Taylor is actively involved in the community and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Jacksonville Community Council, Inc (JCCI). She was also a member of the Jacksonville Chamber’s Hightower Emerging Leaders Fellowship Class of 2022. She is a Jacksonville native and currently lives in Atlantic Beach with her partner, Jeff, and her dog, JoJo. Taylor enjoys spending time at the beach, trying out new recipes in the kitchen and attending local trivia nights.

Our spotlight shines on each campus/center at least once a year. Nominations for the spotlight may be directed to your campus representative or any officer. Learn more about APC on our website, http://blogs.fscj.edu/apcollaborative.
