FSCJ will be closed for spring break from Monday, March 17 – Sunday, March 23, 2025. We look forward to serving you when we return on March 24.
The holiday season is nearly upon us, which means both students and staff are preparing to spend more time with friends and family. For students, this often means conversations about plans after finishing school and what the future holds. The team in Recruitment and Admissions is working hard to make sure FSCJ is a part of those conversations.
Team members continue to participate in several outreach events, with a mix of virtual and in-person events scheduled throughout November and early December. All in-person events have limited capacity and include strict adherence to CDC guidelines for social-distancing to protect both staff and guests in attendance. These events include popular topics such as College and Career Exploration, Application Assistance and Financial Aid Nights. Please go to visit.fscj.edu to see our full schedule of events, which is updated regularly.
In addition to regular weekly events, on Sunday, October 18, FSCJ participated in the NACAC National College Fair. Free and open to the public, NACAC fairs connect students to hundreds of colleges and universities in one location. This event traditionally occurs at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. However, due to social-distancing guidelines, the event took place online this year. FSCJ hosted four different virtual information sessions from noon to 2 p.m. and provided one-on-one meetings with recruiters throughout the day. Over 100 students joined us for the live sessions and individual meetings with FSCJ representatives.
A couple of weeks after the NACAC National College Fair, FSCJ hosted our second Virtual Open House house of the year on Friday, October 30. This event provided an overview of the admissions process, a student panel, resources for students, and videos from FSCJ faculty and staff. Over 400 prospective students registered for this event, with one student winning a $500 FSCJ Book Scholarship.
Finally, as we look ahead toward the Spring 2021 Term, we are pleased to share we have added additional programming to our already established Online Orientation. Starting on October 22, we began hosting weekly First-Year Experience Registration Events both online and in-person. These events provide students more information on the required IDS1107 course: Strategies for the Pursuit of Knowledge. During these events, students receive important information on IDS1107 class topics as well as a live demonstration on how to register for the class. On November 17, we will host our first Family Orientation programs for family members of accepted students.
