FSCJ will be closed for spring break from Monday, March 17 – Sunday, March 23, 2025. We look forward to serving you when we return on March 24.
The weather couldn’t have been better this past weekend, which means spring has arrived. It also means that next week is our Spring Break, the unofficial mid-point of the Spring Term, and the launch of the final few months of high school for our local area seniors.
The Recruitment and Admissions team is excited for a busy month of March. In addition to our regular outreach events, we kick things off this week with our participation in the inaugural Student Success Conference (SSC) at Edward H. White High School on Thursday, March 4. As a core educational partner in the Community Partnership School at Edward H. White High School, FSCJ is hosting the SSC for the senior class, titled "Map Your Future." The event includes a keynote speaker, breakout sessions, FAFSA workshop, FSCJ Career and Technical Education program information tables and recruiting presentations.
While our students and most faculty and staff will be enjoying a well-deserved Spring Break, we have team members participating in two key events during the break. The first is our participation in a virtual college tour on March 9 with students from Tipping the Scale and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida. This virtual event will allow students to connect with representatives from various colleges and universities, including FSCJ and Enrollment Development Coordinator Marshun Middleton. The following day, FSCJ Student Recruiters Emily Towery and Kache Mumford will be hitting the links at TPC Sawgrass as part of the PGA Tour’s Training U program. The “College Corner” portion of the program provides local high school student-athletes the chance to engage with college representatives to learn more about education opportunities after graduation.
When we return from Spring Break, the team will hit the proverbial pavement with a series of FAFSA Labs. Starting on Monday, March 15, we will be at Atlantic Coast High School. Following the Atlantic Coast event will be events at Fernandina Beach High Schoo, A. Philip Randolph Academy and other local area schools. We will then cap off the month of March with our Virtual Spring Open House on Saturday, March 27. All in-person events have limited capacity and include strict adherence to CDC guidelines for social-distancing to protect both staff and guests in attendance. Please go to visit.fscj.edu to see our full schedule of events, which is updated regularly.
With Summer 2021 Open Registration taking place, our enrollment coaches have their calendars full with appointments with incoming students looking to complete their final steps in the onboarding process. Fall Open Registration is just around the corner in mid-April, so the team is preparing for a strong push to position new students for success in their onboarding at FSCJ.
As shared in the February newsletter, as part of the efforts to continue to engage students and “meet them where they are,” our coaches have also started a new video series. The first video in the series features Enrollment Coach Latesha Harris who helps explain the registration process in myFSCJ. Our second video is from our Nassau Student Services Coordinator She’ Washington who explains How to Submit a Help Desk Ticket. Look for more videos in future newsletter updates.
