JaxbyJax Literary Arts Festival Showcases Local Writers

Jun 9, 2022, 12:48 PM

FSCJ partnered with Professor Tim Gilmore to present the annual JaxbyJax Literary Arts Festival on November 11 to showcase our community’s thriving writing scene by sharing the voices of local writers. During the main event which was held across 13 venues in the heart of Jacksonville’s Riverside neighborhood, 28 writers presented a variety of works from poetry to novel excerpts and more to an audience of over 900.

The afternoon began with a Student Showcase of ten local college and high school writers reading their works. The Showcase brought together students from educational institutions across Jacksonville, including FSCJ. Our very own student Elise Duncan and FSCJ alumni and current UNF student Gabriel Bugarin read from their works.

Professor Matt Lany debuted his new book, A. Violet, there. Professor Jennifer Chase shared portions of her play, Renunciant, and Professor Tim Gilmore shared readings from his new book, The Book of Isaiah, which was written about the founder of Jacksonville.
