FSCJ will be closed for spring break from Monday, March 17 – Sunday, March 23, 2025. We look forward to serving you when we return on March 24.
The Recruitment and Admissions team hopes everyone had a wonderful holiday break and wishes our entire community a safe and prosperous new year.
Like so many, the return to regular business on January 4 started with a sprint. Students were engaging with FSCJ representatives through QLess throughout the week while our colleagues in the FSCJ Contact Center received a record volume of calls for one day on Monday. Our team met the students with enthusiasm as they assisted them in completing their final steps toward a successful start to the Spring 2021 Term.
As we kick off the new year, team members will continue to participate in several outreach events, with a mix of virtual and in-person events scheduled through the remainder of January. All in-person events have limited capacity and include strict adherence to CDC guidelines for social-distancing to protect both staff and guests in attendance. These events include popular topics such as College and Career Exploration, Application Assistance and Financial Aid Nights. Please go to visit.fscj.edu to see our full schedule of events, which is updated regularly.
In addition to regular weekly events, we recently hosted our first FSCJ Experience Student Panel event last Thursday, January 7. The FSCJ Experience program focused on resources for students to start their journey at FSCJ for the Spring 2021 Term and an emphasis on current student experiences during the Fall Term. The student panel provided prospective students and opportunity to learn about the challenges and successes of current students against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. One attendee indicated that the panel was a great idea and that “everyone spoke highly of FSCJ.”
FSCJ also recently served as the primary sponsor for the DCPS School Choice Expo on Saturday, January 9. In addition to sponsoring this annual event, which was held virtually this year, FSCJ hosted a booth and provided presentations throughout the program on “Why FSCJ,” Dual Enrollment and the Honors Program. The School Choice Expo will remain open to the public through February, with recorded presentations from FSCJ soon to be available at the FSCJ booth for on-demand viewing.
Finally, as we look ahead to later in January, our team is making preparations for our annual series of Form Your Future events. The Form Your Future events provide information and guidance to prospective students and their families on paying for college. There are three annual events in partnership with various community partners, including Earn Up, City Year, DCPS, NCSD, Year Up, UNF, and the Jax Chamber. The first Form Your Future event will occur on Tuesday, January 26 at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
