Get to Know Your Fellow A&P Colleagues – Youlanda Henry

The Administrative & Professional Collaborative (APC) is the representative voice for the Administrative & Professional employees of FSCJ. In an effort to build cohesiveness, awareness and collegiality, each month we put a “spotlight” on one of our members.

August’s Administrative and Professional Collaborative spotlight shines on Youlanda Henry, the College’s director of tutoring services.

Youlanda has worked at FSCJ for 12 years, beginning her tenure at the College as a professor of English.  She transitioned to administration in 2012, assuming the role of associate dean of the Library and Learning Commons (LLC) at North Campus.  In her newest role as director of tutoring services, she provides administrative oversight for the LLC at North Campus and the Nassau Center and strategic leadership for the delivery of tutoring resources and services Collegewide.

Youlanda has thoroughly enjoyed her work in the LLC as it offers the best of both worlds.  As an administrator, she is afforded the opportunity to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to affect change and promote institutional improvement, and she still has the opportunity to work closely with students and stay attuned to their needs.

Youlanda earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Education from the University of North Florida and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in English from the University of South Florida.  She is a two-time recipient of the North Campus President’s Excellence Award (2007 and 2009), and was awarded an Outstanding Faculty Award (2010) and a National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Excellence Award (2011).

Youlanda is native of Jacksonville.  She is married to her life partner and best friend, Troy, and is the mother of a beautiful daughter, Maya.  She enjoys music, crafting and Zumba fitness.

Our spotlight shines on each campus/center at least once a year.  Nominations for the spotlight may be directed to your campus representative or any officer.
