The FSCJ Nassau Center Fall Festival held in commemoration of the College’s 50th anniversary was a huge success.

The FSCJ Nassau Center Fall Festival held in commemoration of the College’s 50th anniversary was a huge success.

There were nearly 400 people in attendance who came from all over the First Coast, including Fernandina Beach, Yulee, Hilliard, Callahan, St. Mary’s and north Jacksonville. With the help of more than 50 volunteers, the event went off without a hitch. Events included the popular petting zoo, Daffie the face-painting clown, a book giveaway, carnival games with prizes, relay races sponsored by the OTA and PTA programs and a hotdog lunch.

Several community partners, including Nassau County Economic Development Board, Amelia Island Book Festival, Nassau County School Board Culinary Program, Dual Enrollment and the Yulee Public Library, participated at the Fall Festival with information tables and onsite representatives to answer questions.

After lunch was served, District Board of Trustees Chair Jimmie Mayo shared an inspiring message about the importance of not only working hard but getting an education and pursuing your dreams. After the program, attendees were served a special 50th anniversary cake to celebrate 50 years of educational excellence.

Each family left with a gift bag that included a 50th anniversary commemoration cup, FSCJ pen and information on the associate in arts degree roadmap, Cardiovascular Technology program, Associate in Science in Business Administration, EMT program and the Library and Learning Commons services. There were even several prospective students who planned on coming in later that week to get more information about starting college.
