It was another successful day at Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) as we held our sixth annual Wounded Warrior Day on Tuesday, February 3. FSCJ has a long history of supporting military Veterans and their families and is proud to partner with the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) TRACKTM students. The event was held at FSCJ North Campus and encompassed large selections of Veterans, students and faculty who showed support by saluting our American Heroes.

Students from the Dental Hygiene, Massage Therapy and Cosmetology programs provided free dental examinations, haircuts and chair massages, while the Culinary Arts students prepared lunch for the program participants.

“We provide them services here as a way of thanking them for the service that they have done for all of us,” said Dr. Jeff Smith, instructional program manager, FSCJ Dental Programs.

TRACKTM is the first education center in the nation created to address the unique educational needs of Wounded Warriors. The goal of offering TRACKTM students a complete mind, body and spirit rehabilitation using a variety of FSCJ health and personal care programs seems to be accomplished after speaking with Josh Wathen, a U.S. Army war Veteran, about his experience that day. He states that the experience was great and provided a service for all parties involved. According to Josh, he believes FSCJ is running a great program.

As the College continues to salute our American Heroes each year, we look forward to Wounded Warrior Day at FSCJ next year.
