FSCJ Hosts Second Annual Frisch Institute for Senior Care Symposium
The second annual FSCJ Frisch Institute for Senior Care Symposium was held at Memorial Hospital on April 5 with more than 230 in attendance. The Frisch Institute for Senior Care was established at FSCJ thanks to a generous donation from the Beaver Street Foundation, Inc. and the Harry Frisch Family.
Their gift has allowed the development of this program which enhances the educational experiences of nursing, allied health and massage therapy students and prepares them to better serve the specialized needs of older adults. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from geriatric care professionals who shared their expertise and personal experiences throughout their years of service.
One attendee, FSCJ practical nursing student, Diamond Hall, was awarded the $1,000 Frisch Institute for Senior Care Scholarship. Diamond holds a 3.2 GPA and will be the first in her family to graduate from college right after high school. Currently working at UF Health as a certified nursing assistant and home health aide to elderly patients, she also completes her clinical work at St. Catherine’s Labour Manor.
