FSCJ Hosts Mathematics Council Mini-Conference

Jun 9, 2022, 12:45 PM

On January 20, FSCJ's mathematics faculty came together at the Mathematics Council Mini-Conference. The event, which was organized by FSCJ mathematics faculty for mathematics faculty, featured a broad range of workshops from Exploring Business Calculus and Statistics to Safe Space Training as it relates to the LGBTQ community.

Local business NLP Logix also shared the soft skills that FSCJ’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) students need to be successful as business professionals. There was a large turnout at the mini-conference, with two-thirds of our mathematics faculty participating.

The Council hopes to continue to foster and support professional development at the College. The faculty attendees also enjoyed the academic discourse that these types of events encourage. “We hope to continue to engage our local businesses and understand the modern mathematical skills and demands our students need when they leave FSCJ,” said Professor Paula Risko.
