FSCJ Hosts Bridging the Divide Community Luncheon

Jun 9, 2022, 12:51 PM

On Wednesday, June 20, FSCJ partnered with the Rashean Mathis Foundation to hold the Bridging the Divide Community Luncheon. More than 150 FSCJ students, staff and community stakeholders gathered to break bread and participate in critical conversations around solutions to strengthen and unite Jacksonville.

This event built on the important discussions that began at the kick-off event in fall 2017. The conversations continued as small groups, led by trained facilitators, that discussed the need to focus on enhancing our local education system and getting youth involved in these conversations to create change.

Here at FSCJ, we encouraged students to get involved by engaging in research to examine the health, education, criminal justice and socioeconomic disparities faced by Jacksonville’s four quadrants – Northside, Southside, Eastside and Westside. Some of their findings were shared on posters at the event.

The Bridging the Divide initiative is sponsored by Campus Compact’s Fund for Positive Engagement.
