FSCJ's Society for Human Resource Management Student Chapter Receives Award

Jun 9, 2022, 12:47 PM

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) awarded a 2016-17 Merit Award designation to the FSCJ's SHRM student chapter for providing superior growth and development opportunities to its members.

The SHRM student chapter merit award program, which began in 1972, was created to encourage student chapters to require ongoing excellence in the following areas: student chapter requirements, chapter operations, chapter programming and professional development of members, support of the human resource profession and SHRM engagement.

SHRM student chapters have the opportunity to earn an award based on the number of activities they complete during the merit award cycle, which lasted from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017. Of the 327 student chapters from across the United States, FSCJ was one of only 149 winners.

“Our FSCJ student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management is honored to be recognized for superior Achievement and we are humbled by the recognition,” said incoming FSCJ SHRM President Chasity Frazier. “As president of the FSCJ student chapter, I want to thank the Human Resource executives and professionals–fellow SHRM members in the Jacksonville metro community–for their support, and I want to thank FSCJ for offering the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentration in Human Resources. The degree's focus on professional practice in a real business environment, taught by practitioner faculty, has helped us maintain our focus in FSCJ’s SHRM student chapter, a focus that has been recognized with this award.“
