Forensics Team Places at Regional Speech Competitions

During Fall Term, FSCJ’s forensics team had the opportunity to participate in two speech and debate tournaments and also hosted one of their own. The team earned the Quality Award and placed third overall in two out of three regional speech tournaments hosted by Berry College, University of West Florida (UWF) and FSCJ. At each tournament, the team bested competitors from some of the top universities in the country, including University of Florida, Florida State University, Texas Southern University and Tennessee State University, among others.

While competing at Berry College, two FSCJ participants earned the following placings:

  • Adonis Lane placed fifthin After Dinner Speaking
  • Madeline Windsor placed fifthin Poetry Interpretation

FSCJ earned the overall Quality Award during their competition at UWF and earned the following placings:

  • Adonis Lane placed first in After Dinner Speaking, second in Prose Interpretation and fourthin Impromptu Speaking
  • Weston Funcheon placed secondin After Dinner Speaking
  • Nicki Ercolino placed thirdin Prose Interpretation and fourthin Dramatic Interpretation
  • Ashley Blanding placed sixth in Poetry Interpretation

FSCJ hosted the Star Invitational where the team achieved third best overall with multiple placings:

  • Adonis Lane placed first in After Dinner Speaking and second in Prose Interpretation
  • Samantha Radomski placed third in Dramatic Interpretation and fifth in Prose Interpretation
  • Madeline Windsor placed third in Poetry Interpretation and fourth in Prose Interpretation
  • Chris Carlson placed fifth in After Dinner Speaking
  • Nicki Ercolino placed fifth in Dramatic Interpretation
  • Ashley Blanding earned Top Novice in Dramatic Interpretation

The team is set to compete in both the Florida State Championships and the University of North Florida Invitational later this spring.
