Featured High School Partnership: Frank H. Peterson Academies
January was a great month for the Frank H. Peterson Academies and FSCJ Recruitment partnership. On January 24, Frank H. Peterson Academies hosted the FSCJ Workforce Fair with representation from numerous FSCJ programs. More than 300 juniors and seniors attended, keeping the program representatives and recruitment team busy for the full two hours. This was a great opportunity for students to explore their options. Several students also submitted admissions applications to FSCJ during the event. School administration and counselors were so pleased with the outcome they have committed to hosting another fair next year. The enthusiasm created at this event continued on to our Form Your Future event the following day at the Advanced Technology Center. Frank H. Peterson was the most represented school in attendance.

Featured Event: School Counselor Workshop
Recruitment and Admissions capped off the month of January with their annual School Counselor Workshop, hosted at the FSCJ Nathan H. Wilson Center on South Campus. The workshop brought in more than 50 service area school counselors and provided attendees an opportunity to interact with various FSCJ faculty, staff and students. The event featured a tour of the Fire Academy of the South along with a performance and discussion with FSCJ danceWORKS. In addition, there were presentations from Recruitment & Admissions, Articulation and Dual Enrollment, and the Associate in Arts and First Year Experience programs. Two student panels – FSCJ Athletics and City Year – provided counselors with insights from current FSCJ students about their different experiences at FSCJ. The event was capped off with a working lunch where all in attendance were able to discuss future opportunities to continue to build upon expanded collaboration between FSCJ and service area high schools.
