FSCJ will be closed for spring break from Monday, March 17 – Sunday, March 23, 2025. We look forward to serving you when we return on March 24.
For Recruitment and Admissions, much of the summer has been spent performing a blend of outreach and preparation for the upcoming academic year. Enrollment coaches have actively led in-person orientation programming at each campus over the summer months, having served nearly 800 students. Though orientation is not yet mandatory at FSCJ, one early indicator of program success is the rate for which these students enroll in fall classes. We are pleased to say that nearly 80% of students that attended an in-person registration have registered for fall classes.
Orientation programming will continue to be offered through the month of August at each campus. These weekly student orientation sessions are designed to help new FSCJ students with their initial onboarding and College navigation and conclude with a warm hand off to our colleagues in Advising. New this summer is a scholarship drawing valued at $500 per student. Any student that attends a face-to-face summer orientation program and registers for at least half-time classes this Fall Term will be entered in a drawing to receive one of 10 scholarships.
Recruitment and Admissions is also proud to share that a record number of nominations, over 120, for the Adult Learner Scholarship have been received for the Fall Term. The Adult Learner Scholarship Committee is now in the process of selecting and awarding deserving students for this important scholarship, which is targeted toward our non-traditional adult population and is valued at up to $2,000 per term. Though review is underway for the Fall 2019 Term, nominations can still be submitted for the Spring 2020 Term. Click here to access the nomination form. Once complete, email your nomination to welcome@fscj.edu.
To be eligible, students must:
• Be enrolled in a financial aid eligible certificate, associate or baccalaureate program in the Fall, Spring or Summer Term.
• Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA at FSCJ during the award period and remain in good academic standing.
• Apply for financial aid for the academic year/award period.
As both a wrap up to summer and a kick-off to the new academic year, Recruitment and Admissions hosted a Form Your Future: Jump Start to College event at Kent Campus in late July. This interactive event featured a student panel and was designed to get traditional-aged students ready for college with information on selecting the right college and identifying scholarship and aid opportunities. The event was part of an ongoing partnership with Duval County Public Schools, Nassau County School District, City Year, JaxUSA, YearUp and UNF.
