July was an eventful month in the Office of Student Recruitment and Admissions. We were pleased to welcome Megan Dross as the new Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions. Megan has more than 14 years of higher education experience supporting students, faculty and alumni, and most recently led her former institution, the College of The Albemarle, in meeting their enrollment goals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Megan’s broad knowledge in many areas of higher education and the perspective gleaned from these experiences will positively contribute to our work at FSCJ. Along with Megan’s experience, she holds a master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of San Francisco. Her course of study focused on how to provide students, specifically those who are underrepresented, opportunities to achieve learning opportunities that can transform their lives. Megan officially joined the team on July 26, 2021, and ended her first week by attending the FSCJ Open House on July 31.

Our in-person Open House was a tremendous success with 320 total future student attendees, 49 new admission applications and six scholarships awarded. The amazing energy and excitement of the event would not have been possible without the 120 volunteer staff and faculty who helped make the Open House a success. A big thank you to everyone who participated or helped spread the word to future students, their family members and the community.
