FSCJ Athletics recently held a gathering at South Campus to celebrate the academic success of our student athletes during the Fall 2020 Term. This fall, 67 (65%) of the 103 student athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or higher. Out of those 103, fourteen (14) earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.
“In my four years at FSCJ, we have always had great academic success; however, this is an exceptional class of student athletes, not only in their sport, but in the classroom,” said FSCJ Director of Athletics Ginny Alexander.
The student athletes had a cumulative GPA average of 3.06 for Fall Term. Leading the teams with the highest GPA is the BlueWave Softball team, who earned a 3.34 cumulative GPA this fall, followed by our BlueWave Baseball team at 3.09. Each of our teams have more than 54% of our student athletes earning a 3.0 GPA or higher. The BlueWave Men’s Basketball team led the teams in percentage with 75% (10 out of 13) of their student athletes with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
“The academic success of all of our students is our top priority,” said FSCJ President Dr. John Avendano. “I am excited to see that our athletes are leading the way with their focus on learning and achieving in the classroom.”
