FSCJ will be closed for spring break from Monday, March 17 – Sunday, March 23, 2025. We look forward to serving you when we return on March 24.
FSCJ Vision Education Rehabilitation Center (VERC) celebrated the grand opening of the newly remodeled VERC space on October 17, 2019. Pictured here (left to right) are FSCJ Foundation Director Cleve Warren, Program Coordinator Pat Marshall, College President Dr. John Avendano and Dean of Education and Human Services Tara Haley at the ribbon-cutting, which was immediately followed by tours of the learning spaces.
The fully renovated space was designed to enhance the training opportunities available through improved functionality, greater mobility, and new equipment and technology. VERC is a community-based training and rehabilitation program offered at no cost to adults and high schoolers with blindness or visual impairment and serves over 400 individuals on an annual basis.
The ribbon cutting was held in conjunction with the 7th Annual Vision Awareness Day at Downtown Campus. Throughout the day, guests visited experiential stations with activities completed under a blindfold including taste, tactile, aroma and cane maze travel. Dr. Avendano successfully navigated the cane maze himself.
