July Recruitment Update

Jun 9, 2022, 12:54 PM
For the Office of Student Recruitment and Admissions, summer is both a time of active program delivery and preparation for the upcoming recruitment cycle for the 2019-20 academic year.

Our enrollment coaches are now actively delivering weekly student orientation sessions for new students at each of our campuses. These face-to-face programs are designed to help new FSCJ students with their initial onboarding and College navigation. Though programs are led by enrollment coaches, they are a true reflection of the collaboration across various units with presentations from Student Engagement, Title IX and Financial Aid. Each session includes a Chart Your Path lab where students work with staff to finalize their residency, program plan and financial aid prior to a warm handoff to advising staff. New this summer is a scholarship drawing valued at $500 per student. Any student that attends a face-to-face summer orientation program and registers for at least half-time classes this Fall Term will be entered in a drawing to receive one of 10 scholarships.

Recruitment and Admissions is also proud to share the return of the Adult Learner Scholarship, now in its second year. This scholarship, which is targeted toward our non-traditional adult population, is valued at up to $2,000 per term and may be pro-rated for students taking half-time or three-quarter time course loads. Nominations are now open for 2019-20. Click here to access the nomination form. Once complete, email your nomination to welcome@fscj.edu

To be eligible, students must:
• Be enrolled in a financial aid eligible certificate, associate or baccalaureate program in the Fall, Spring or Summer Term.
• Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA at FSCJ during the award period and remain in good academic standing.
• Apply for financial aid for the academic year/award period.

Selection of scholarship recipients will be based on recommendations put forth by FSCJ faculty and staff. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about this scholarship opportunity, please contact Enrollment Development Coordinator Jackie Kloin at jacqueline.kloin@fscj.edu

In addition to the opening of the Adult Learner Scholarship for the upcoming academic year, recruiters have been able to solicit 30 nominations from Duval and Nassau County high school counselors in support of the recently renamed FSCJ Opportunity Scholarship (formerly Leadership Scholarship). This scholarship will award these students with up to $4,000 in scholarship funds annually in their pursuit of a certificate or degree at FSCJ.

DgBskG0RzpRMJvZcVGx_EJ_WFinally, with the new academic year fast approaching, Recruitment and Admissions is preparing to host the annual Form Your Future: Jump-start to College program on Thursday, July 25 at Kent Campus. This interactive event features a student panel and is designed to get traditional aged students ready for college with information on selecting the right college and identifying scholarship and aid opportunities. The event is part of an ongoing partnership with Duval County Public Schools, Nassau County School District, City Year, JaxUSA, YearUp and UNF.
