Hannah Gouge, a student in FSCJ’s Cardiovascular Technology Associate in Science program, was recently selected for the Alan D. Waggoner Student Scholarship. As a recipient of this award, Hannah will receive $1,000 to support her program tuition expenses, is invited to attend the American Society of Echocardiography’s (ASE) 30th Annual Scientific Sessions, which will be held in Portland, Oregon in June, where she will be publicly recognized, and will receive a travel allowance to help her get there.

“This scholarship means so much to me and I’m so thankful for this opportunity. This awards me the opportunity to continue pursuing my echocardiography career! Receiving this aid allows me to focus on my studies without having a financial burden,” said Hannah. “I cannot wait to attend the Scientific Sessions in Portland with my professor, Christie Jordan. Sometimes this program can be very challenging and you can feel overwhelmed. This scholarship shows me that my hard work is really paying off and it encourages me to keep pushing myself!”

Following her anticipated Fall 2019 completion, Hannah hopes to become a successful cardiac sonographer. She said, “To be the best I can be, I am focusing heavily on my education now and will further my learning throughout my career, working toward earning my bachelor’s degree. It’s my goal to help patients feel as comfortable as possible, because I know how scary it can be. My dad was a cardiac patient so I feel strongly about giving back to the cardiac community.”

Congratulations, Hannah!
