BlueWave Athletics Supports the Community

FSCJ's student athletes are actively involved in giving back to the community. Over the past few months, students on the basketball, baseball, volleyball and softball teams have supported various youth- and animal-focused programs.

Student athletes from the basketball, baseball, volleyball and softball teams volunteered at the Let's Move Jacksonville event, sponsored by former First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move initiative. Each team organized a healthy sport activity for the young attendees to participate in.

The Women's Basketball team served the students from The Broach School and assisted in physical education activities. The team helped the students through various basketball skill stations such as dribbling and passing. The Broach School of Jacksonville is a non-profit, K-12 private McKay school for children with special needs.

The FSCJ baseball team volunteered their time with grounds clean up at the Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary. The team members picked up leaves around the lion and tiger cages and cleaned up trash from the grounds. Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a safe, loving, forever home for endangered big cats, and to educate the public about their plight in the wild and captivity.
