Producing exceptional learning experiences

The Fire Academy of the South utilizes over fifty instructors to provide the specialized training and education required for emergency responders. By matching specific instructor strengths to particular courses, FAS is able to produce exceptional learning experiences. 

Jason Carpenter
Assistant Director, Fire Academy of the South
Fire Service Experience: 21 years
Jason Carpenter is currently a Lieutenant with the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department. Lieutenant Carpenter joined JFRD after a three-year stint with Clay County Fire Rescue. He is a certified paramedic, served as a member of the Haz-mat response team, and is currently a member of the Florida Urban Search and Rescue response team for the region. He has been an adjunct instructor with Florida State College at Jacksonville for 14 years. Lieutenant Carpenter is certified as a Live Fire Instructor, EVOC instructor and Florida Instructor I. Lieutenant Carpenter coordinates the scheduling of adjunct instructors, ensures facilities are prepared for specialized courses and maintains fire related equipment and props. He also is responsible for the refilling and maintenance of training extinguishers utilized at the Fire Academy.

Adjunct Faculty
The Fire Academy of the South utilizes over fifty adjunct faculty members to provide the specialized training and education required or emergency responders. The skills range from emergency medical training to urban search and rescue to aircraft fire fighting. Each adjunct faculty member brings a dedication to training and exceptional instructional skills. By matching specific instructor strengths to particular courses, the Fire Academy of the South is able to produce exceptional learning outcomes.
