The Associate in Science (A.S.) in Computer Information Technology degree prepares students for respected careers as developers, programmers, programmer-analysts, database developers, or web developers.
The A.S. degree offers a broad overview of the information technology, providing exposure to fundamental topics that build expertise in this vital field. Coursework covers technical skills required for career success along with the opportunity to specialize the degree in a professional track aligned with personal interests.
Computer Information Technology students study program and systems design, computer communications, database development, web development, customer support, and software development in specific languages.
Our relationship with Microsoft’s Developer Network Academic Alliance allows students to download a free, licensed copy of the Microsoft server and developer applications, operating systems, and integrated development environments for programming languages taught in classes.
The A.S. degree is a 60 credit hour program consisting of both general education courses and higher-level, advanced computer systems networking topics. A 50-hour internship is included in the program to provide valuable work experience through active hands-on learning of course concepts. The complete curriculum, including all track-specific coursework, can be reviewed in the Requirements tab.
General education courses are offered at any of FSCJ’s campuses and centers, as well as online. The professional core courses are offered at FSCJ Deerwood Center, FSCJ Downtown Campus, FSCJ Kent Campus, FSCJ North Campus, FSCJ South Campus, and FSCJ Online.
In addition to the track specializations, the A.S. in Computer Information Technology also offers five embedded certificates that can further tailor the degree to interests and goals:
