Understanding Change within the College: Seasonal or Substantive?

Jun 9, 2022, 12:40 PM
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation (OIEA) is your one-stop shop for all things connected to substantive change throughout the College.

As an institution accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), we are required to track and report many of these changes. The SACSCOC substantive change reporting process—also ever evolving—involves timelines, pre-implementation approvals, notifications and appropriate documentation.

Whether it is related to curriculum changes, program development or inactivation, clock or credit hour changes, new off-campus instructional sites or new agreements, they are happy to answer your questions on what qualifies as substantive change. There are several variables that help determine whether an activity may be a substantive change in the context of FSCJ’s mission.

Workshops on substantive change are held quarterly, with the next one occurring on April 15, 2015, from 2-4 p.m. You can register through the employee portal (Artemis) and click on the Innovation Center for Professional Development to locate the class. For substantive change questions or assistance, contact Lori Kuhn-Hancock, Accreditation and Planning Support Manager, at (904) 632-3357 or lkuhnhan@fscj.edu.
