FSCJ Students, Faculty and Staff Participate in #GivingTuesday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will participate in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that unites individuals, communities and organizations across the world to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity.
FSCJ’s students, faculty and staff will blanket the community and volunteer at five local nonprofits on November 28 to show #FSCJCares. FSCJ volunteers will lend their time and talents to Beaches Habitat for Humanity, Berry Good Farms, Celestial Farms, Salvation Army and Duval County Public Schools’ Teacher Supply Depot. Additionally, the College is accepting donations to benefit FSCJ’s H.O.P.E. Food Pantry, Teacher Supply Depot and its newly launched Annual Fund.
The Annual Fund will provide student scholarships, elevate academic programming, provide professional development opportunities for FSCJ’s educators and ensure the latest educational technology is available in the classroom.
“We at FSCJ are passionate about investing our time, talent and treasure for the betterment of the community where we work, live and play,” said FSCJ Foundation Executive Director Cleve Warren. “Not only are we to support our students academically, we must also provide for their needs outside the classroom and, through service learning, offer real-world experiences that will enhance their lives and reveal opportunities for growth.”
#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they care about most.
