FSCJ 2019 Author Series Welcomes Dr. Damon Tweedy, author of “Black Man in a White Coat”

WHAT: Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will welcome Dr. Damon Tweedy, author of The New York Times bestseller, “Black Man in a White Coat: A Doctor’s Reflections on Race and Medicine,” for the 2019 Author Series.

“Black Main in a White Coat,” is Dr. Tweedy’s memoir of his experience grappling with race, bias and the unique health problems faced by black Americans. TIME magazine named the book one of the Top 10 Non-Fiction books of 2015.

Dr. Tweedy is a graduate of Duke University School of Medicine and completed both his medical internship and psychiatry residency at Duke Hospital. He currently serves an associate professor of psychiatry at Duke University School of Medicine and is a staff psychiatrist at the Durham Veteran Affairs Medical Center.

Dr. Tweedy will visit FSCJ’s South Campus on March 20, 2019, to speak on his memoir and sign copies of the book. He will also visit FSCJ’s Kent Campus on March 21, 2019, with the same presentation. Both author visits are free and open to the public. Registration is not required but seating is on a first come, first served basis.
